Chemical Divisional Manager

An exciting opportunity has opened up to join a fast-growing water treatment company that’s a leader in this multi-faceted industry.  We’re looking for an exceptional Chemical Divisional Manager to help grow our footprint across Africa.

 

The Chemical Divisional Manager will be required to manage and grow the Watericon Chemical business. In addition, the Chemical Divisional Manager will be required to create and execute the Company strategies as well as specific agency strategies.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Implement, manage and achieve budgets and targets as a company.
  • Business development – creating new customers, markets, products and regions.
  • Overseeing and development of a structured and well executed business plan, marketing program and sales strategy for the division.
  • Looking for new opportunities across other chemical industries such as agencies, chemicals manufacturing, process chemicals or possible business acquisitions for market share / technology.
  • Looking and developing a network of key technology partners that we can work together in gaining market share.
  • Expanding the different chemical agencies into process chemicals. 
  • Existing Customer retention and development.
  • Ensuring profit margins are maintained.
  • Creating and implementing intercompany and customer training programs.
  • Overseeing the chemical production facility.
  • Building and developing a sustainable and big performance chemical team.
  • Through creating, developing, and driving a chemical service team you will need to make sure accounts are maintained.
  • Making sure that KPI’s are met, on time communication and reporting is done and that any chemical service accounts are well looked after. 
  • Engaging with the market at conferences/expos and have a strong presence in the Water and Wastewater industry.

Qualifications required for the role

 

  • Matric
  • BSc (BEng) Chemical/ Chemistry

 

Relevant experience required

 

  • At least 5 years in the water treatment or chemical industry. 
  • Minimum 5 years in a management role.
  • Proven track record and developing and hitting sales budget and profit margins
  • Forecasting, budgeting and reporting
  • Procurement and stock management
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • People management and interpersonal skills
  • Client and customer focus.
  • Ability to negotiate and manage suppliers
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques

 

Certifications, licenses and registration

 

  • A membership of an appropriate professional body will be advantageous
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Must be able to travel locally and internationally.
