Graduate Junior Process/Project Engineer

An exciting opportunity has opened up to join a fast-growing water treatment company that’s a leader in this multi-faceted industry. We’re looking for exceptional Graduate Engineers / Junior Process Engineers to help grow our footprint across Africa.

The purpose of this role is to provide turnkey engineering solutions for water treatment problems. This role includes design, costing, writing sales proposals, and management of water treatment projects. Management includes overseeing procurement for the project and managing the budget.

Other tasks may be assigned such as assisting more senior engineers with their projects or any day-to-day administration and tasks that they need help with.

Business development is also crucial to all roles at Watericon.

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Proposals and Design

  • Respond to customer/client request for engineering solutions with – questions when necessary and solutions when available. This includes drafting a proposal and costing for an enquiry.
  • Prepare quotes and scopes of work including datasheets. Engineering items, necessary calculations, selection and sizing of equipment must all be included.
  • Ensure all deadlines are met. If no external deadline is set by the client or one’s manager, one must create one’s own deadline and ensure it is met.
  • Follow-up on previously sent quotes.
  • Maintain existing relationships with clients/customers and create new relationships when presented with the opportunity to do so.
  • Assist senior engineers with design work and administrative tasks.
 

2. Project Management

  • Manage the relationship with the customer throughout the duration of the project.
  • Ensure that the project does not go over budget
  • Oversee procurement and assembly/build of the project, ensuring the project is complete before its deadline.
  • Test the equipment and ensure the quality of the project is up to Watericon’s standard.
  • This can also include project management and administrative project related tasks for more senior engineering staff

 

3. Site Work

  • Site work includes site visits to potential clients
  • On site commissioning and installation of plants – this will require assistance from a more senior or experienced colleague.
  • Training and handover of projects- this will require assistance from a more senior or experienced colleague.\
 

4. Creating learning opportunities

  • Ask to assist with tasks that you have not performed before to create problem solving awareness and collaboration opportunities with more senior colleagues
  • This can also include taking part in any meetings or trainings in which one can upskill oneself.

Qualifications required for the role

  • Matric
  • BSc (BEng) Chemical
 

Relevant experience required

  • No previous experience required
 

Certifications, licenses and registration

  • ECSA Registered (not required but preferred)
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Must be able to travel locally and internationally.
