Group Engineering Manager
An exciting opportunity has opened up to join a fast-growing water treatment company that’s a leader in this multi-faceted industry. We’re looking for an exceptional Group Engineering Manager to help grow our footprint across Africa.
The Group Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing the design, manufacture, and installation of company equipment to improve the company’s product base and the performance of existing products and equipment.
The Group Engineering Manager will be required to oversee projects from initial specification to the final product stage to ensure that the products meet the required standards, coordinate the installation of company products to meet its contractual obligations.
In addition the Group Engineering manager attends to tenders, contracts, and quote, organizes the manufacture of projects and products in the workshop to meet all output targets in terms of quantity, quality, yield , wastage , unit cost and in accordance with HSE standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Directs and controls the work and resources of the Engineering department and the Workshop
- Attends to tenders, quotations, technical queries, and design of water treatment plants
- Evaluates subordinates tenders and progress
- Establishes and maintains effective formal and informal links with major customers, relevant government departments and agencies, local authorities, key decision makers and other stakeholders generally, to exchange information and views and to ensure that the organisation is providing the appropriate range and quality of services.
- Develops and maintains research and development programmes to ensure that the organisation remains at the forefront in its sector, applies the most cost-effective methods and approaches and provides the required range and quality of services and products
- Prepares, gains acceptance, and monitors the implementation of the annual budget to ensure that budget targets are met, that revenue flows are maximised and that fixed costs are minimized.
- Develops and maintains an effective marketing and public relations strategy to promote the products, services, and image of the organisation
- Represents the organisation in negotiations with customers, suppliers, government departments and other key contacts to secure the most effective contract terms for the organisation
- Develops and maintains total quality management system throughout the organisation to ensure that the best possible products and services are provided to customers and or clients
- Develops, promotes, and directs the implementation of equal opportunities policies in all aspects of the organisation
- Oversees the preparation of the annual report and accounts of the organisation and ensures their approval
- Develops and directs the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure that the organisation complies with all health and safety and other statutory regulations.

Qualifications required for the role
- Matric
- BSc (BEng) Chemical/ Mechanical
Relevant experience required
- Proven record of success in senior level general or commercial management in related industry
- 10 years senior level experience of management of people and resources
- Graduate level of intellect
- Wide knowledge of the water industry
- Understanding of financial management
- Understanding of management principles and techniques
- High level of financial and commercial awareness
Certifications, licenses and registration
- A membership of an appropriate professional body will be advantageous
- Valid driver’s licence
- Must be able to travel locally and internationally.
