SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE

An exciting opportunity has just opened up to join a fast-growing water treatment company that’s a leader in this multi-faceted industry. We’re looking for an exceptional HR Officer to help grow our footprint across Africa.

The HR officer will be required to develop the necessary policies and procedures to ensure HR and IR compliance with all legal, statutory, and other functions within the company. In addition, the HR Officer will manage and direct the HR strategy of the company, becoming the expert source of advice on all HR and IR matters, including talent sourcing and acquisition, and developing talent within the company.

Prior experience in the water treatment, built environment or engineering industries is a PLUS.

Position Description 

KEY RESULT AREAS TIME SPEND
Develops policies and procedures and actively promotes continuous Improvement in HR and IR management. Sets priorities and follows up to ensure the completion of assigned work and that the best practises are followed. 10%
Recruitment and Talent Management for the group. 15%
Ensures the implementation and monitoring of policies and procedures10%
Monitors the company’s HR, Labour and IR procedures and processes, to ensure that they comply with all labour and statutory laws or regulations, and provide guidance to company and managers.20%
Manage, Investigate, and report on IR and related incidents, recommending any changes that may be necessary, to ensure that the company complies with all Labour and or Statutory laws.  10%
Facilitate training and analysis for the company and recommend any training that may be necessary for managers and staff.10%
Participates in audits.10%
Set up and maintain HR consultative machinery.5%
Undertakes research to keep him/herself abreast of all developments in the fields of HR and IR so the company maintains its competitive position. This is to comply with best practise and legal compliance.5%

FORMAL EDUCATION / ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS 
School Education Matric
Tertiary Relevant tertiary qualification in HR or related field   
EXPERIENCE
In this role
  • At least 5 years’ experience in HR and IR, preferably in the mining, construction, engineering, or water treatment industries.
  • Significant managerial experience
  • Subsequent knowledge of continuous improvement techniques 
  • Problem solving and interpersonal skills 
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES AND REGISTRATION 
Membership A membership of an appropriate professional body will be advantageous.
Licences  Valid driver’s licence
SPECIFIC KOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
KNOWLEDGE IN 
RegulationsExpert knowledge of regulatory regulations.  
ManufacturingHigh degree of knowledge and understanding of a variety of manufacturing, project management and supply chain processes
LEANKnowledge of lean manufacturing will be advantageous
