SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE

The purpose of this role is to provide turnkey engineering solutions for water treatment problems. This role includes the design, costing, writing proposals for-, sale, and management of water treatment projects. Management of projects is included in this role including overseeing procurement for the project, managing the budget of the project. 

 

Other tasks may be asked of the Junior Process Engineer such as assisting more senior engineers with their projects or any day-to-day administration and tasks that they would like assistance on. 

 

Business development is also crucial to all roles at Watericon- one must be able to represent the company and its values.

Position Description

TIME SPEND

Proposals and Design

  • Respond to customer/client request for engineering solutions with – questions when necessary and solutions when available. This includes drafting a proposal and costing for an enquiry. 
  • In Preparing quotes, scopes of work, datasheets, pumps, other engineering items and calculations and selection and sizing of equipment must all be included. 
  • Ensuring all deadlines are met. If no external deadline is set by the client or one’s manager, one must create one’s own deadline and ensure it is met. 
  • Follow-up on previously sent quotes 
  • Maintaining existing relationships with clients/customers and creating new relationships when faced with the opportunity to do so. 
  • This can also include design work and administrative tasks for more senior engineering staff

Project Management 

  • Project management includes managing the relationship with the customer throughout the duration of the project.
  • Project management includes ensuring that the project does not go over budget, overseeing procurement and assembly/build of the project, ensuring the project is before its deadline. 
  • Testing the equipment and ensuring the quality of the project is up to Watericon’s standard. 
  • This can also include project management and administrative project related tasks for more senior engineering staff

Site Work 

  • Site work includes site visits to potential clients 
  • Also included is any on site commissioning and installation of plants designed- this will require assistance from a more senior or experienced colleague. 
  • Training and handover of projects- this will require assistance from a more senior or experienced colleague.

Creating learning opportunities

  • One must create learning opportunities by asking to assist tasks that one has never performed before to create problem solving awareness and collaboration opportunities with more senior colleagues or opportunities to self-learn how to problem solve. 
  • This can also include taking part in any meetings or trainings in which one can upskill oneself.

No Previous Experience in Engineering within the Water Sector

Experience includes an internship for a company that served as a platform for communication and collaboration for the Smart Water Sector
