SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE

This will be done by communicating with the engineering team, technical manager, technicians, and workshop manager, and then producing General Arrangement (G.A.) drawings which present the design for manufacturing. This task requires a high level of competency and attention to detail in designing the physical plant by considering how it will be built, the cost of materials, what stock is available, the functionality of the system, and the equipment required to build.

This job requires a good competency in teamwork and communication as the candidate will be working with several different people to create a design that works and is well presented for manufacturing.

The Mechanical draftsman is responsible for using Autodesk AutoCAD to assist the process and project engineers with Process and Instrumentation Drawings (P&ID’s). The candidate will receive a hand drawing which they will then have to redraw in AutoCAD adhering to the companies’ drawing standards.

The Mechanical draftsman is responsible for maintaining drawing standards and developing those standards with the assistance of the workshop manager, the technical manager, and the engineering team. This includes standards for drawing templates, P&ID symbols, and processes for drawing revisions and revision records.

The mechanical draftsman is responsible for creating, maintaining, and storing G.A. and P&ID drawings for standard products sold by the company.
