Production Manager

An exciting opportunity has opened up to join a fast-growing water treatment company that’s a leader in this multi-faceted industry.  We’re looking for an exceptional Production Manager to help grow our footprint across Africa.

 

The Production Manager directs and controls the chemical factory production and operations to ensure that all targets are met within the specified quality standards

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Directs and controls the staff of the department to ensure that they are appropriately trained and motivated and carry out their responsibilities to the required standards
  • Oversee all operating processes to ensure that the most efficient and effective use is made of plant and equipment and that safety standards are adhered to. Plan and schedule production with orders. Oversee the manufacturing process
  • Prepare and monitor budgets to ensure that the optimum use is made of operational resources. Controls the budget for the operations department to ensure that the department has all their resources required to meet its objectives within agreed financial parameters
  • Monitor output to ensure that the production function meets the established standards in terms of both safety, quantity, and quality
  • Maintain regular contact with other departments to ensure that they are aware of operational requirements and to identify potential problems
  • Advise and support the purchasing, warehousing, distribution, and the logistics departments so that the company has all the resources required for the production and manufacturing purposes within the agreed cost, quality standards and the specified timelines.
  • Plan ,introduce and monitor maintenance and work schedules to ensure that plant downtime is kept to the minimum.
  • Maintain an effective relationship with all senior management to ensure effective coordination of all company activities in support of corporate objectives
  • Procurement, receiving, storage and dispatch of finished and raw materials. Management BOM as per production schedule.

Qualifications required for the role

 

  • Matric
  • BSc / BTech Chemistry would be advantageous

 

Relevant experience required

 

  • Proven record of success in same position 
  • 5 years senior level experience in operations management 
  • Experience in the water industry  
  • Excellent negotiation skills  
  • Management principles and techniques  
  • Excellent organisational skills  
  • Excellent time management skills  
  • Excellent decision-making skills

 

Certifications, licenses and registration

 

  • A membership of an appropriate professional body will be advantageous
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Must be able to travel locally and internationally.
