SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE

This role is to provide an “end to end” engineering solution to the client /customer. The Project Engineer is responsible for the sale, design, cost, execution (project management, fabrication, assembly, installation and commissioning of the companies engineering projects)

Sales proposals and Process design: 

  • Respond to customer for engineering solutions
  • Maintain relationships with customers
  • Develop new business within core focus
  • Meet deadlines and follow up submitted quotes 
  • Technical solutions for customers 
  • Improvement in profitability and efficiencies of existing business

Project Management: 

  • Managing costing and estimating systems
  • Liaise with workshop manager regarding scheduling and capacity 
  • Project timelines and execution
  • Testing of equipment predelivery 
  • Ensuring quality and specifications that meets market requirements
  •  Continual improvements where possible

Installations, Commissioning and training:

  • Ensure correct installation 
  • Ensure professional and successful commissioning 
  • Training of operators
  • Provide handover documents (training registers, handover certificates etc.)
  • Local and international traveling may be required

  • Conduct ad hoc analysis to improve design and costing

FORMAL EDUCATION / ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS 

Tertiary Education 

Relevant University qualification in Engineering 

EXPERIENCE

In this role

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in water treatment, operations and design 
  • Exposure in water treatment technologies in market e.g. RO, Filters, valves
  • Experience in project management 
  • Sales and marketing experience
  • Knowledge of current water treatment space  

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATION AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES

Membership 

 

Licences  

Valid driver’s licence

lifting/moving  

Must be able to lift 25kg and traverse over difficult terrain

KNOWLEDGE IN 

Regulations

P&ID, HAZOPS, PSM and regulations relating to the industry  

Manufacturing 

Operations, production and processes, understanding of water technology and equipment  

Lean 

Lean Manufacturing will be an advantage
